GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN - Our loving Indigo and osteosarcoma

Meet Indigo Skye. She was our loving 10-year-old Old English Sheepdog with the personality everyone she met fell in love with. Our mascot at Luxx Chocolat! Was always happy, jumping and energetic not indicative of her years. A forever puppy. Smart, intuitive…and knowing there was something wrong.
 
Indigo was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front left leg, a bone cancer, that does not have a good prognosis even with current treatment approaches. Osteosarcoma is prevalent and is the most common type of bone tumors in dogs. They are highly aggressive tumors, characterized by painful bone destruction where the tumor grows.
 
My goal was to provide the time she had left with as good a quality of life that can be achieved. Through her tests which include a series of x-rays of chest and leg, blood draws and fine needle aspiration, the multiple doctors on her case in NJ, NY and Mass had concluded her cancer had not yet metastasized thankfully. She had so much more life she needed to live. So we enrolled her in a clinical study based out of Tufts University. After 6 months of ongoing complications with a troublesome Mersa infection, Indigo sadly passed at the end of August. But there are still many bills that haunt us.

Although there were costs covered by the trial, various things were not covered including:
• All required diagnostics to qualify for trial participation
• Diagnostic needle aspiration
• The balance of the required limb amputation surgery (only $1500 covered)
• Assistance support/walking devices post-surgery
• Complications secondary to amputation surgery, ie: infections, associated vet visits
• Infections unrelated to osteosarcoma treatment, associated vet visits
• Travel to MA from NJ and associated overnight costs (MANY visits)
